More entry activity sat inside a quieter month

Data window: 1 July 2026 to 31 August 2026

Abstract

August’s total instruction activity fell while entry activity rose. Management and other messages moved the other way. The aggregate alone therefore obscured a change in the composition of messages reaching the bridge.123456

Entry instruction activity changed +8.1% in August versus July 2026, while management and other instruction activity changed −22.0%.

A quieter aggregate does not imply a quieter entry stream. August combined higher entry activity with lower management and other activity, shifting the balance of instruction types reaching the bridge.

These percentage changes have different denominators. Each compares a message family with its own July activity. Adding the family changes would be invalid, and an equal average would not reproduce the total.

A competing explanation is calendar composition. The calendar comparison shows that the raw total and the standardised total move differently. That qualifies the headline about overall activity; it does not remove the observed divergence between the raw entry and management changes shown here.

For system builders, the useful distinction is between message families. Monitor entries separately from management traffic, and inspect the management-command breakdown before interpreting a change in the total as a uniform change across the system.

The data does not show whether a message was executed, rejected or superseded. Those outcomes require separate operational evidence. The original overview reports the entry share alongside these activity changes.

Numbered notes are referenced from the text. Each states what a figure or series does not establish.

  1. This retrospective comparison describes eligible received instructions, not completed broker actions.

  2. July comparisons use the August release’s consistent eligibility rules. They can differ from the separately published July bulletin. These are source-calendar months; the source time zone is unconfirmed.

  3. The aggregate change does not describe every command family. Management instructions include several kinds of messages.

  4. Received instructions do not establish which actions were completed at the broker.
